So I’ve decided to jump on a bandwagon of sorts and create a book list. It is a work in progress for now, but will feature titles I’m currently reading as well as titles I plan on reading. If you have read/are reading/plan on reading any of the books on my list I welcome all messages private or public in which we can discuss the book in question! (I think that’s probably the only point of having a book list except for stroking my ego.)
My book list can be found at /books, or you can click on the link at the top of my page. For now it will be plain text but maybe I’ll find a prettier, more “Web 2.0”-esque way to do it if I feel like it.
Talk-o-clock is a peer-to-peer alarm clock which allows other people to wake you at your specified time! Enter your phone number, choose the gender you would like to hear from, and hope for the best!
This seems kind of strange but I’m going to try it.

Newly elected republicans in the New Hampshire legislature have just voted to abolish the NH minimum wage. Governor John Lynch vetoed the bill, but there were enough votes for an override. The NH minimum wage matched the federal minimum wage at $7.25, or $15,000 a year for a full-time worker. If you’re wondering why this has occurred, State Rep. Carol McGuire (R-NH) sums up the republican sentiment quite nicely with this statement to reporters:
It’s very discriminatory, particularly for young people. They’re not worth the minimum.
She also remarked that corporations should be able to set whatever wage they feel is suitable - and I think we all know what would happen if that were possible.
This is a vulgar insult to youth everywhere who hold a minimum wage job in order to support their families, pay for college, or survive on their own and do not have the privilege of existing wealth or their parents’ income. Might I also say that it is not only youth but a significant percentage of adults who hold minimum wage jobs to survive.
Minimum wage was instituted to protect the worker from corporations, many of which would jump at the opportunity to lower the wages of their workers. It is also agreed upon by economists that lowering wages depresses economic recovery and decreases the standard of living for workers.
Please keep these things in mind when next at the polls. Know that the right are not concerned with the well-being of the working class.
